BARNSTAPLE Mayor Jeremy Phillips and Mayoress Val took part in the Big South West Walk in aid of Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal.Hundreds of people put their best feet forward on Saturday for the cause.Mr Philips, his deputy Cllr Ian Roome - and even last year's Mayor Cllr Sue Haywood - joined more than 40 taking part in this year's flagship route from Barnstaple to Bideford. Almost 100 hospice supporters took part in the other North Devon routes that made up the 84 separate walks spanning 630 miles of the South West coastline."It was a fantastic day with all the participants enjoying themselves," Cllr Roome told the Gazette."The Mayor and myself completed the walk in under four hours," he added.
