Torrington and Barnstaple crews called to overturned horse trailed near Winkleigh.

FIRE crews were called out last night (Thursday) to rescue two horses after a trailer overturned at Beaford near Winkleigh.

A crew from Torrington and the specialist rescue team from Barnstaple, were called to the scene at Mill Lane just after 8pm.

One horse was already free of the trailer but had cuts to its legs, while the other was still inside and the fire fighters stabilised the trailer so a vet could sedate the horse.

The trailer was then towed into a nearby field and the trapped horse lifted from it using strops. The condition of the second horse was not known.
