As of yesterday (April 1), The National Trust now manages Marine Drive car park in Woolacombe.
It is currently undergoing maintenance work, preparing the site for visitors to enjoy.
On March 25, North Devon National Trust announced on their Facebook page:
“From the 1st April, the National Trust will be carrying out essential maintenance and improvements to the car park to improve the experience for everyone. We appreciate your patience while this is carried out and will aim to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Sections of the car park will be shut off whilst the work is being carried out, but will be fully accessible from Friday, April 4.
The entire car park will be closed from 8am – 1pm on Thursday, April 3.
The Porthole Woolacombe also shut yesterday (April 1) for this maintenance to be complete and will be back open on Friday, April 4.
Following their closure, the café will be open 7 days a week for the summer until October.
Staff members will be operating the site from Friday, April 4.
National Trust members can use the car park free of charge.
Although, payment for parking will be required for non-members who wish to park at Marine Drive.
The National Trust has stated how funds generated from daily parking charges will be used.
“Funds raised from parking will go towards improving the area for people and nature and supporting vital conservation work in the surrounding coastline and countryside.”
