Aldi’s Bideford store is among six in Devon to receive upgrades as part of a £600 million nationwide investment by the supermarket chain.
The improvements include expanded fresh, chilled, and food-to-go sections, simplified store layouts, and energy-efficient LED lighting. Other stores benefiting from the investment include two in Plymouth, as well as locations in Exeter, Paignton, and Topsham.
Aldi is now preparing for the next phase of development, which will see nearly £67 million invested in its existing stores throughout 2025.
This will introduce further enhancements such as upgraded bakery sections and improved health and beauty fixtures.
Stores will also receive CO2 refrigeration upgrades, which Aldi estimates will reduce carbon emissions equivalent to heating over 6,500 homes once the programme is complete.
