Steve Parsons' Big Cat sculpture
RHS Rosemoor, near Great Torrington, is showcasing an inspiring array of over 200 sculptures in a captivating exhibition running until 31 January.
The sculptures range from fluid, interactive installations to bold, thought-provoking large-scale pieces, offering something for every art enthusiast.
This annual exhibition brings together 40 talented sculptors from across the UK, including a strong presence from local West Country artists.
Among them is North Devon-based Steve Parsons, whose sculpture is called Big Cat. Steve began his career in photography before transitioning to jewellery design.
Now, as a sculptor, he is using his design expertise to explore new creative boundaries. "Sculpture is excitingly tactile, allowing me to push design boundaries in new and innovative ways," says Steve.
"I love sculptures' ability to create a space for expression and dialogue; both for the artist and the viewer."
Another featured artist is Heather Sweet-Moon, a self-taught sculptor with over 25 years of experience in the art world.
Heather’s works have been displayed in venues such as Guildford House, Bowes Museum, and the Worcester and Birmingham art galleries.
She was even commissioned by Vogue to create sculptures for a magazine cover.
Known for her quirky ceramics inspired by nature, her pieces, such as Hunted, feature hand-built figures and animals.
Her garden sculptures have been exhibited at Showborough House gardens and the Cotswolds Sculpture Park in recent years.
Other artists featured in the exhibition include Barney Yendall, Bea Green, Brendon Murless, Brian Steele, and many more, with sculptures ranging from intricate ceramic works to large, bold metal pieces.
These diverse creations are set against the backdrop of RHS Rosemoor’s winter garden textures, creating a unique visual experience for visitors.
In addition to the static exhibits, RHS Rosemoor will host Living Sculpture performances on 25-26 January.
From 11am to 3pm, five entertaining characters will bring sculptures to life in unexpected places, adding an interactive element to the event.
This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of sculpture and explore the talent of artists from across the UK, all while enjoying the beautiful, ever-changing landscape of RHS Rosemoor.
