Great Western Railway (GWR) has announced that trains on the Tarka Line between Barnstaple and Exeter will resume this evening, following disruption caused by Storm Darragh.

The ongoing impact of the storm had led to fallen trees on the track, preventing services from running.

Test trains have since been out on the route and confirmed it is now safe to open.

The first train to Barnstaple will depart from Exeter St Davids at 5.19pm.

GWR continued: "We hope to then run a limited service for the remainder of the evening."

Passengers are advised to check for updates, as services may still be affected.
