Care home in Bideford celebrates official opening

A new care home has been officially declared open in Bideford.

Thursday, November 21 was a special day for Highwood Care Home, when it was  opened by councillor Rachel Clarke.
The event was attended by residents, relatives, staff, healthcare professionals and members of the local community and was a great opportunity to celebrate the beautiful new home, that has been supporting the local community since July.  

Attendees at the event were treated to live entertainment and canapes and glasses of fizz were the order of the day, as well as the opportunity to look around the home and its many luxurious facilities.

The home's managers said in a press statement: “Offering the very best in person-centred residential, dementia, nursing and respite care for up to 67 residents, the home has been designed with the residents in mind, offering beautiful community living, whilst having the reassurance that support and companionship is available around the clock and is quickly becoming recognised as one of the leading care homes in North Devon.”

Stacey Lewis, the home manager, has the pleasure of leading the dedicated staff team and commented: “It has been so exciting seeing the development of the home and being a part of the commissioning team and there was no greater moment than when we opened our doors in July and welcomed in our first residents.”  

Stacey added: “There has been so much interest in the home from both residents and staff alike and the buzz around the home is infectious. The local community has also been so welcoming and it’s been great to forge new partnerships and to ensure that our residents remain integrated within their local community.”

A plaque to commemorate the opening of the home was unveiled by Cllr Clarke in front of delighted residents, relatives and guests of the event.
