Ground has officially been broken on the new Roundswell Business Park, a major development poised to boost the local economy and provide cutting-edge facilities for a wide range of businesses.

The project, spearheaded by Onyx Business Parks Limited, is set to deliver 29 multi-functional light industrial units just south of the A39, near Barnstaple.

With units ranging from 1,000 square feet, this expansive business park is designed to cater to diverse commercial needs.

Currently, construction is well underway, with pad foundations in place and steelwork set to be erected soon.

The entire site is scheduled for completion by late summer 2025.

A spokesperson from Onyx highlighted the sustainable focus of the development, noting that the park will feature solar photovoltaic panels, electric vehicle charging stations, and other green technologies aimed at reducing operational costs and promoting eco-friendly business practices.

The project is expected to create over 54 temporary jobs during the construction phase and 160 permanent positions once operational, contributing an estimated £10 million annually to Devon’s economy.

ONYX Business Parks Sales Manager, Lewis Watts, said: “We are thrilled to see the progress being made so far to the scheme. We are also proud that ONYX Business Parks has a presence in Roundswell Enterprise Park, the flagship business park development in North Devon.”

A spokesman for Onyx also said: “We’re excited to see the current progress being made to the scheme and looking forward to seeing the next phase of construction.”

As the project moves forward, Roundswell Business Park is set to become a cornerstone of the region’s commercial landscape, offering high-quality, low-maintenance facilities that align with Onyx’s commitment to sustainability and economic growth.
