Combe Martin Museum
Despite rumours that they are going to close, Combe Martin Museum has confirmed they will not be closing.
Chair of Trustees, Shirley Willoughby confirmed that the museum is here to stay, much to the relief of locals and visitors alike.
Ms Willoughby assured the public, saying: “Combe Martin Museum is definitely NOT going to close!”
She addressed the financial struggles the museum has faced in recent years, a common challenge among charitable organisations.
However, Shirley also confirmed that the museum had to make some changes aimed at ensuring its sustainability.
“We have recently had to make some administrative changes to the way we work
“We are now operating as a totally volunteer-led model, and all our volunteers have stepped forward and taken on more roles to keep the museum open and working efficiently,” she said.
Shirley also said: “There is a very positive mood amongst the workforce and we are looking forward to the summer season.
“We have many interesting events planned over the coming months which are advertised on our website, on Facebook, in the local magazine 'The Shammickite' and throughout the village, so we are hoping that any concerns that we might be closing will be allayed.”
