A Barnstaple man is set to embark on a remarkable solo journey across London.

Andy Hood will be running to 21 different Krispy Kreme doughnut stores on Saturday April 6 spanning from Stratford to Canary Wharf, covering a staggering distance of 50 kilometres.

This self-designed challenge aims to raise awareness about testicular cancer while fundraising for The Oddballs Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting individuals affected by this disease.

Andy, a testicular cancer survivor himself, found solace and strength in running after his diagnosis in 2021.

Now, he's leveraging his passion for running to support others facing similar battles.

Reflecting on his journey, Andy said: "After the operation and chemotherapy, I returned to the running shoes with a goal to help others."

The idea for this unique challenge struck Andy as he contemplated his love for Krispy Kreme doughnuts and wondered about the locations of their stores across London.

"I decided I wanted to do something a bit different and unusual," he explained.

"I then got wondering where all their London stores are located."

With careful planning, Andy crafted a route that would take him through various neighbourhoods of London, starting from Stratford and culminating at Canary Wharf.

"The route was unbelievable," he expressed.

"What I mapped out, takes me down through a strip from Stratford, you get to go through Bethnal Green, High Holborn and Bloomsbury."

Despite the solo nature of the challenge, Andy will have the support of a few friends who will join him for parts of the run.

"I've got a few runners, friends of mine that are going to join me for a few miles here and there," he revealed.

"I've got the map, and they're going to come and pick me up at certain points."

Andy has said Krispy Kreme has been instrumental in supporting his endeavour, with the company fully on board with his unique challenge.

"Krispy Kreme have been amazing with planning the whole event," Andy acknowledged. He said: “Krispy Kreme said to me ‘we're really happy with you to do it, we're gonna supply you some free doughnuts at the beginning’"

Andy’s run will be tracked via GPS, allowing supporters to follow his progress live as he tackles this extraordinary feat for a worthy cause.

Andy’s fundraising efforts will benefit The OddBalls Foundation, a prominent charity established in 2015 dedicated to raising awareness of testicular cancer.

The foundation's mission revolves around educating individuals about the fundamentals of testicular cancer and promoting regular self-checks to facilitate early detection, ultimately saving lives.

Andy's dedication to supporting charitable causes is evident through his remarkable fundraising efforts.

Through his passion for running, Andy has raised an impressive £7,760 for charity. Expressing his gratitude to all those who have supported his endeavours, Andy has shared a powerful message: "Just do it!"
