Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School orchestrated a successful student bake sale, amassing more than £500 in contributions
Businesses, schools, and community groups from across North Devon have rallied together in support for North Devon Hospice’s Pitch in a Pound fundraiser.
Held throughout the week of February 5 to February 9, the event aimed to bolster crucial resources for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses in the region.
Throughout the week, hundreds of locals enthusiastically participated in various fundraising activities.
Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School orchestrated a successful student bake sale, amassing more than £500 in contributions.
Meanwhile, Anytime Fitness in Barnstaple played host to a spirited weightlifting competition, where gym enthusiasts hoisted over 500 tonnes, generating more than £400 for the cause.
Numerous other local establishments, including businesses, schools, and community organisations, also joined forces to champion the initiative in support of local hospice care.
Lisa Mackenzie, Events Manager at North Devon Hospice, remarked: “We have been blown away by the support we’ve received for Pitch in a Pound – it was a real community effort! Whether you hosted a dedicated event, popped out a collection tin, or made a one-off donation, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part.
Lisa emphasised the profound impact of community contributions, stating: “The power of the pound is immense and every pound makes a difference. Together, we can provide comfort to patients and families in their toughest times. It's round-the-clock care, a warming cuppa, memory-making, and someone to talk to. And all of it is thanks to you.”
This year, North Devon Hospice will embark on its 40th year of service.
