The Mayor and charity, Spark UK
Mayor of Ilfracombe, Cllr Daniel Turton, is stepping up to support youth mental health with an extravagant black tie Charity Gala set to take place on Saturday, March 23, at the North Devon Resort.
The event will aim to raise funds for Spark UK, a youth mental health organisation founded by Conor Warren, a former student of Ilfracombe Academy, at the age of 14.
Spark UK, established in December 2020, has rapidly expanded its reach over the past four years, providing essential resources, lessons, and campaigns to approximately 300 schools across the UK.
Mayor Turton, an advocate for the young people of North Devon and mental health awareness, has chosen to champion Spark UK's cause.
He said, “as a huge advocate for the young people in North Devon, and also for mental health awareness in general, I have chosen Spark UK as the recipient of funds raised from this event as they are a brilliant organisation.”
“It is a real honour for me to be able to host an amazing event, not just for everyone to have a great time, but also to be able to raise the profile of Spark UK and support them to support others, and not only our young people here in North Devon, but across the UK,” he continued.
The charity gala has promised an evening of sophistication and entertainment, with a dress code of black tie, plus a line up featuring welcome drinks, a delicious three-course meal, live music by The Greater Good, a grand raffle boasting lavish prizes, and a lively performance by Sonic Fusion.
Mayor Turton has anticipated a vibrant turnout, and has urged attendees to don their finest attire and dancing shoes for an unforgettable evening in support of a noble cause.
Tickets for the event, priced at £50 per person or £450 for a table of ten, are available for purchase via www.ilfracombeholidaypark.net.
Those interested in contributing quality prizes to the grand raffle are encouraged to contact project officer Charmain Lovett at Charmain.lovett@northdevon.gov.uk
