The pub managed to secure a Michelin star in 2006 but is now on the hunt for new owners

The award-winning Masons Arms, a historic 13th-century pub near South Molton, has been put on the market as celebrated Michelin star chef Mark Dodson and his wife Sarah retire after an illustrious 18 years of ownership.

The couple, who bought the pub in 2005, managed to secure a Michelin star in 2006, but have decided to pass on the torch after dedicating 45 years to the hospitality industry.

Mark, with an impressive culinary background, worked alongside Michel Roux Senior at the Waterside Inn before executive roles at Cliveden House led him to the Masons Arms.

The pub seamlessly blended fine dining with the cosy ambience of a village local, garnering both critical acclaim and community appreciation.

Reflecting on their tenure, Mark said: "The 18 years we have spent here have been remarkable. We've achieved everything we set out to do by creating a first-class eating experience in relaxed and informal surroundings."

The couple say they are now ready to retire, explore new horizons and spend more time with family and friends.

Vickery Holman property consultants, overseeing the sale, emphasised the pub's successful restaurant, cosy bar, and charming aesthetics.

With four bedrooms for owner accommodation and a sizable garden, the Masons Arms presents a good prospect for those looking to continue its legacy.

Michael Eason at Vickery Holman, has said he anticipates high interest in the property, urging interested parties to reach out promptly for further details.
