A local business in Appledore is rolling out a local National Citizen Service (NCS) Community Experiences program this February for teenagers aged 16 and 17.
Running from February 12 to 17, Skern Lodge will be hosting thrilling activities such as surfing, archery and high ropes. The program not only promises fun but also boosts employability skills at no cost to the participants.
Skern Lodge will buzz with the NCS-funded 48-hour program, divided into three branches: Challenging Activities, Skill Development and Take Action. Participants will delve into self-discovery, team-building, community engagement, fostering personal growth and readiness for the future.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a youth empowerment program in the United Kingdom, designed to foster personal and social development among 15 to 17-year-olds.
Over the course of several weeks, participants engage in a range of challenging activities, outdoor adventures, and community projects. The NCS aims to equip young individuals with essential life skills, boost their confidence, and encourage a sense of social responsibility.
Through teamwork, leadership opportunities, and exposure to new experiences, participants emerge from the program with a heightened sense of self and a greater understanding of their role in their communities.
Pearse Walsh, the senior marketing executive for Skern Lodge, has highlighted the success of past programs with a notable Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 96 out of 100, based on feedback collected throughout 2023.
Quotes from previous visitors, such as those from Highfield School and Penair Secondary School, underscore Skern's commitment, enthusiasm and the positive impact it leaves on participants.
