The band have larger dreams of supporting a big artist on tour.
A rising band with roots in North Devon have gained recognition as BBC Music Introducing’s Tune of the Week.
The group called the Beau Bennett Collective, comprised of talented musicians Beau Bennett, Ben Hope, Elliot Iddon, and Jack Simpson, made waves with their debut single, Apricity.
Frontwoman Beau Bennett shared insights into the inspiration behind their latest single. She said: “Apricity was a word I gravitated towards when I felt I was searching for a glimmer of light. Its beauty and meaning stuck with me, and this song grew around it.”
She went on to explain the intricate acoustic guitar, a key feature from the start, symbolising the beauty she sought. The essence of the song, she added, revolved around the constant push and pull sensation, capturing intertwined emotions of angst and euphoria.
“The song musically captured the intertwined emotions of angst and euphoria, leaving the listener with a moving rock song that made you want to scream it at the top of your lungs,” Beau remarked on the emotional depth of Apricity.
Ben Hope, a backing vocalist and guitarist, expressed the band’s excitement over securing BBC Introducing’s tune of the week.
“We were in the studio recording an EP for the previous six months set for release later that year.” He reflected on the journey from sold-out shows, festivals, and local gigs and added: “Our debut single Apricity had only just been released but was really well received, and we couldn’t have been happier!”
The band, originating from diverse backgrounds and meeting at university in Falmouth, held strong ties to the South West. Ben Hope, in particular, grew up and originated from Lynton, still residing there.
The band is currently based in the South West, travelling as opportunities arise. As Ben noted: “We base ourselves where and when the opportunities come, and at the moment, we’re on the move.”
With a promising trajectory, the band set its sights on the summer, aiming to release more music and actively seeking bookings for festivals. They aspire to play at various festivals throughout the season and harboured dreams of supporting a larger artist on tour.
