Nativity characters preparing to set off for a previous Barnstaple Nativity Trail.
Children and families are invited to search for shepherds, wise men, Mary and Joseph and other live characters in Barnstaple next Saturday (December 16).
Barnstaple churches are getting together in the town centre for a Nativity Trail to find characters from the story of the first Christmas.
The trail is open to all children and is completely free. It starts at 10.30am wherever you can find one of the characters and get a passport.
After collecting the passport, children will need to search around the High Street, outside Banbury’s, the Pannier Market and Green Lanes.
The aim is to find characters such as Mary and Joseph, the innkeepers, the shepherds, the wise men, the angels, King Herod, a star and a donkey.
From each they must collect a sticker and a code word and work out a coded message. The trail ends at 12.30pm when the characters will walk back to the House of Prayer in Church Lane (opposite St Anne’s Arts and Community Centre).
Refreshments will be available from 11.30am onwards at the House of Prayer for all participants when they have completed the trail.
