Great wins for young boxers from Bideford ABC

Bideford Boxing Club schoolboys were on form in Sturminster Newton with two technical knockouts against boxers from the host club.

Rocky Grigg moved to four fights undefeated with a clinical performance against Shane Long. Grigg showed great defence and ring craft to set up big punches, in the second round he walked Long on to a straight right cross, forcing a standing count.

In the last round, Grigg went through the gears giving another standing count from a four-punch combination. Grigg sensed the finish, another big left hook and right hand was all the ref needed to see to waive the contest off and give Grigg the win.

Riley Chappell showed a massive improvement in a rematch with Alfie Snook, which was a tight split decision win last time out. This time it was a different version of Chappel who straightened up his punches scoring clean shots. Big straight right crosses forced the ref to give a standing count in the first round. In the second, Chappell continued, putting the pressure on by landing big shots to the head and body, forcing the ref to stop the fight and declare Chappell the winner.

Jackson Passmore boxed in Bridgend, competing in his 50th contest boxing in the NAGBC quarter finals against Welsh Champion Joe Williams. It was a messy contest, with a big clash of styles making it hard for either boxer to dominate. Williams scored a few southpaw backhands before the bell, to pinch the split decision win.
