Did you know that North Devon Homes is a charity? This means that all the income we receive from rents and charges is invested back into our homes and services to ensure our customers’ homes are well maintained, safe and fit for living in.

With the current housing crisis, we know there are not enough affordable homes to go around, which is why in 2015 we created a subsidiary company, Anchorwood Ltd, to build market sale properties.

We invest the profit from these sales back into North Devon Homes so that we are able to build more affordable homes, for local people. We are also working with housing developers in existing and new partnerships to obtain further affordable housing for our customers.

Our aim is to provide more quality, affordable housing in North Devon. We want these homes to be energy efficient and sustainable so that we are reducing our impact on the planet whilst reducing the running costs for our customers.

We are currently working on projects across North Devon which will provide new affordable living opportunities for our customers.

Pill Gardens, Braunton – We obtained planning consent earlier this year to replace four flats with seven new homes that will be available to rent. This project will see the completion of our precast reinforced concrete (PRD) regeneration project to replace properties that are beyond their building life.

Pixie Lane, Braunton – This site aims to replace housing which is no longer configured to modern standards with five new high-quality homes. We are hoping that once this goes through governance, work will begin before the end of the year.

Mariners Court, Braunton – This development will deliver a brand new over 55’s supported housing scheme. It will provide 25 homes for rent and four for shared ownership.

This project will renew facilities which were not configured for standards or the needs of the residents. After being submitted to planning in 2021, this has been stalled by the planning process, but we are working hard to progress this scheme through the final stages of planning.

The Shields, Ilfracombe – Work has begun on this new, much needed development which will deliver the first affordable homes in Ilfracombe for 17 years.

We are working with Elan Homes to deliver eight affordable, rented properties and three for shared ownership. Work will be completed by May 2024, ready for customers to move in.

Foxglove View, Buckland Brewer – Construction is underway to provide 12 affordable units for rent and five for shared ownership. These will be the first properties North Devon Homes has delivered in Torridge and demonstrates our commitment to finding solution and opportunities in the local area to deliver more affordable homes for those who need it.

We are working with Allison Homes on this scheme, which is an exciting new partnership for us.
