In a display of community and sporting enthusiasm, pupils from Beaford Community Nursery & Primary School, Brayford Academy, High Bickington Academy, Horwood & Newton Tracey Primary School, Pilton Bluecoat Academy, Umberleigh Academy, Swimbridge Primary School and Witheridge Academy were treated to the unforgettable experience of witnessing Wales triumph over the Barbarians in an international rugby match at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.

This educational trip, orchestrated by TEAM Multi-Academy Trust, was 'imbued with the spirit' of the Trust's core drivers: Building Learning Power, Building Futures, Building Community, and nurturing self-esteem and wellbeing. The pupils not only enjoyed the thrilling game but also engaged in a live lesson on sportsmanship, strategy, and the power of unity.

As the match ended with a resounding 49-26 victory for Wales, the students, alongside thousands of fans, bid a heartfelt adieu to Welsh rugby icons Leigh Halfpenny, Justin Tipuric, and Alun Wyn Jones. This poignant moment resonated deeply with the Trust’s ethos of 'honouring legacy and building aspirations'.

Ian Thomas, CEO of TEAM Multi-Academy Trust, reflected on the event's impact, he said: "The rugby match was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to experience the passion of Welsh rugby firsthand. It was a privilege to facilitate this trip that so vividly brought to life our values of teamwork, determination, and community spirit."

This sporting event did more than just entertain; it served as a catalyst for bringing together pupils from various schools, fostering new friendships and creating shared memories.

The Trust extends its heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff and volunteers who made this enriching experience possible for the pupils, further cementing TEAM Multi-Academy Trust’s dedication to creating opportunities that contribute significantly to the pupils' holistic development.
