Alex is a Western Counties Champion

Bideford boxer Alex Dovell is the New Light Heavyweight Western Counties Champion.

Dovell, the challenger travelled to Sydenham, to face Simon Heyburn who previously had a win against him. Dovell rushed out to the centre of the ring holding, his ground as both lads tried to dominate in the early stages.

In the second, it was Heyburn who began going backwards after taking some hefty body shots. Dovell finished a dominant round with a six-punch combination whilst Heyburn was trapped on the ropes.

Both boxers put in a great effort until the final bell, but it was the Bideford fighter who was getting the better of the exchanges to gain the unanimous win and bring the belt home. 

Jackson Passmore gained the club another unanimous win, beating Theodore Mineiro from Yeovil in the NAGBC Championships. Passmore scored shots from range to take the early lead.

In the second, the power shots started coming in and a big overhand right from Passmore forced a standing count. In the last, the finish was very close for Passmore. as another standing count was required from a big left hook but Mineiro made it to the final bell. Passmore now progresses to the Western Counties Finals, joining club-mates Dylan Burst and Jacob Stevenson.
