October half-term is upon us once again and if like me, you’ve got the kids at home this week, you’ll likely be thinking about how you can make the best use of your time together.
With the weather turning cooler and Christmas on the horizon, it can sometimes be tricky to find fun and cost-effective activities that the whole family can enjoy at this time of year.
But here at your local hospice, we’re making the most of the seasonal festivities and want to help you create some magical memories for free this autumn…
This week until Friday (October 27) between 9am and 5pm, we’re inviting you to visit our ‘spooktacular’ Children’s Trail, which can be found in our gorgeous hospice gardens up at Deer Park in Newport, Barnstaple.
Along with finding our usual collection of nature-inspired rubbings, visitors can also spot glowing lanterns, ghoulish props, leaky cauldrons, and spider webs while exploring the trail this autumn.
Once you’ve explored the gardens and completed our frightfully fun trail, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a photo opportunity among cob-web-covered hay bales and glowing pumpkins before collecting a Halloween-themed gift.
Plus, if you’d like to indulge in some seasonal refreshments, our Terrace Café will be open and offering a delicious selection of freshly baked cakes and biscuits – a real treat for all the family! But the fun doesn’t stop there…
On Halloween night (Tuesday, October 31), there will be even more tricks and treats in store for visitors to the hospice.
Between 5pm and 7pm, our catering team will be serving Halloween hot dogs, pumpkin soup, and a whole host of spooky sweet treats, so why not pop in for a bite?
Face painting will also be available to help your little ones get into the spirit of this special Halloween tea while the hospice gardens will be magically glowing with lights and lanterns.
Entry to both our ‘spooktacular’ Children’s Trail and Halloween night festivities is free for the whole family but if you would like to make a donation to help fund the vital care offered at North Devon Hospice, we would be so grateful.
Your generosity will make a real difference and means that other families just like yours can make lasting memories together while journeying through their toughest times.
Thank you as always for your unwavering support and I hope you enjoy our Halloween festivities here at North Devon Hospice.
