North Molton thrash Ottery St Mary
North Molton Sports Club are within three of leaders University of Exeter in the Devon Football League after a 6-0 walloping of Ottery St Mary.
The overall performance from the Stags was excellent but there was one moment that has to be seen to be believed. Head over to Twitter, or X, whatever it’s called, and search for North Molton FC.
You will then witness one of the greatest goals ever seen in grassroots football, no exaggeration. After an initial free-kick was blocked by the wall, the rebound bounced up for Andrew Alexander, at least 30 yards from goal.
He quickly shifted his body position and with perfect technique, thundered an extraordinary half volley into the top corner. What a goal!
Alexander also scored another on the day, along with a brace from Josh Stoneman and strikes by James Giffard and Aidan Barrow. A great win for the Stags and an unbelievable goal.
In the North Devon Football League, Park United are a point ahead of Fremington at the top, with Boca Seniors lurking dangerously in third.
Park took advantage of a free weekend for Boca to assume the top spot by thrashing Eastside 10-2. Daniel Wilson was ruthless in his finishing, scoring four goals, while Stephen Skinner notched a hat-trick. Ross Middleton, Jamie Bowden and Joe Grimley were also on target.
It was much harder work for Fremington at North Molton 2nds, where Cohen Phillips and substitute Charlie Mock scored in a 2-1 victory. Tom Harries scored the consolation for Fremmy.
