A former sewage treatment works site with potential in Bideford is coming up for auction on Wednesday, November 1.

The aptly named Poo Corner in the Oaklands area of town is among 134 lots in the latest auction being held by one of the top five property auctioneers in the UK, Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers.

It is being offered with a freehold guide price of £45,000-plus at the firm’s auction, which ends on November 1.

Senior auction appraiser Audrey Smith said: “This is a rare opportunity to acquire a former sewage macerator site which sits in a tucked away position in a small, wooded nature reserve with walkways connecting local housing estates.

“The macerator is an empty and a cleaned Nissen-style large steel tank, which is currently used as a workshop with a concrete sump at lower ground level. There is also a smaller outside store.

“Builders may see potential for development for either residential or commercial use, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.”

The mobile units on the site will be removed prior to completion.

The land can be located using the What3Words app using ///gasp.farmer.thin with viewings permissible from the boundary of the 0.02-hectares (0.05-acre) site.

Bidding for the current auction, the seventh of eight this year, goes live on October 30 and ends on November 1.
