Ilfracombe is to get a boost with new play equipment on the seafront.

North Devon District councillors agreed to spend £87,000 on it at their strategy and resources committee as the town 'badly needs' investment.

The money comes from contributions made by developers towards community infrastructure. Although the exact location is yet to be agreed, it will form part of the Ilfracombe Seafront Improvement Project.

The initiative is designed to minimise the impact on the natural environment, so recycled materials will be used where possible.

Cash for the project is from developments at South Leigh, Greenclose Road, Southcliffe Hotel, Torrs Park, Somers Crescents Apartments and land rear of 14 Score View.
