Dylan Burston is the Barum Box Cup champion

Dylan Burston has picked up another title, becoming the Barum Box Cup Champion. Burston faced Irish Champion Kevin Boyde in the Final, in a bout that lasted less than 2 minutes.

The Bideford boxer forced the first standing count with a right cross, second standing count with a left hook and forced the technical knockout with a four-punch combination to take the gold medal.

Leo Mcmenamin lost in the semi-finals against Irish Champion Riley Ohare by a split decision. Mcmenamin won the first with long-range straight punches, the second was Ohare’s pushing the pace. It was all to win in the last, as both boxers gave everything in a terrific battle, with the Irish boxer nicking it by the finest of margins.

Both boxers will be in action next at Bideford ABC’s open show at Pollyfield Community Centre on October 7. For tickets, priced £10, phone Richard Grigg 07949 770616.
