This show is coming to North Devon as part of Beaford’s Autumn Season of events
‘The Company of Wolves’ is a promenade theatre adventure based on the works of esteemed English novelist Angela Carter. Burn the Curtain Theatre Company alongside playwright Shiona Morton have adapted the classic tale to also include elements of Carter’s stories ‘Wolf-Alice’, ‘Peter and the Wolf’ and ‘The Werewolf’ to create a spectacular outdoor show.
In a small village in the depths of North Devon, a young girl puts on her red shoes and cloak, and heads into the forest alone, watched by unseen eyes. As the shadows lengthen, she begins to run - now begins a mysterious night-time hunt for a rogue wolf…and as an audience member you are literally along for the journey, be it a walk on the wild side or a run in the dark!
When booking tickets, you will decide; whether to be a hunter or a gatherer, fleet of foot to pick up the pace, or to tread carefully along the path. The walker’s path is around 2-3 miles and is an intermediate walking grade (uneven and hilly countryside footpaths) and the runner’s route is 5-6 miles and is a hilly, trail running path.
This show is coming to North Devon as part of Beaford’s Autumn Season of events. Beaford have long been known locally for bringing extraordinary, world-class theatre to places you might not expect in rural North Devon but even for them this outdoor, late night running show is an exciting and unusual prospect.
"We are thrilled to be teaming up with the experienced Devon based outdoor theatre company, Burn the Curtain, once again, this time for a particularly challenging and bespoke production!" said Claire Ayres, Beaford’s Creative Producer "It’s likely to be something that people will have never experienced in North Devon before, so we hope audience participants will enjoy joining us for this fun, if a little bit scary(!), opportunity."
The three performances will take place in and around Lee, North Devon in the days leading up to Halloween. Beginning on Thursday 26 of October the shows will begin at dusk and continue into darkness lit by October’s aptly named full moon; the Hunter’s Moon!
