Aaron Bird taking on experienced Italian

Bideford light heavyweight professional prospect Aaron Bird is deep into a training camp for his next fight in Cardiff on September 15.

Bird’s next bout will be against experienced Italian Victor Edgha, who will be entering the ring for the 95th time as a professional.

Bird spoke about his training camp for the fight, he said: “I am in the gym twice a day, five days a week, this is the fittest I have ever been. I have done over 100 rounds sparring, bringing in some top professionals.

“I am against a very clever opponent, who has boxed at a high level, but I believe I have the ability to be fast-tracked in the pro ranks and can only see myself winning the fight.”

Good luck to Aaron, as Bideford Boxing Club look to celebrate yet another fantastic progression for the fight game in North Devon.

Barnstaple ABC held their annual presentation evening last week and welcomed club legends Jimmy Isaac, Roger Huxtable and Glenn Alaia to present the awards.

The event was once again held at the Ebberley Arms and included Kay Warburton presenting the Warburton Cup and John Elnaugh presenting the Charlie Simpson Shield. Check out the Barnstaple Amateur Boxing Club Facebook page for some fantastic pics.

The club has also sent out a thank-you to Jewson Barnstaple for a kind donation, with these contributions crucial to ensuring the gym is in peak condition for the boxers.
