The Plough Arts Centre, in association with The Big Sheep, bring a festival-worthy line up of up and coming local bands to The
Big Sheep live stage on Saturday, July 29, 4pm – 10pm.
Early bird tickets are up for grabs until June 30 for just £10!
Bands include Small Town Jones, The Kahunas, Johnny & June Tribute, Captal and the winners of The Plough’s Battle of The Bands event on July 14.
Small Town Jones deliver emotional and heartfelt songs that can silence a room as well as uplift and transport the listener to other places. Described as indie folk Americana, they’ve released four albums so far all to much acclaim, played Radio 2’s Dermot O Leary’s Saturday session twice and received numerous five star reviews in the top music press. They’ve played support slots with the likes of The Kinks legend Ray Davies and many more.
The Kahunas are an indie folk duo who write their own songs using violin, guitar, vocals and a bass drum. Their sound is melodic fiddle music with a driving dance beat which has authentic lyrical content. Playing at venues, festivals and parties up and down the country, they have also supported The 3 Daft Monkeys several times, The Destroyers, Toyah Wilcox and The Christians.
Roseanna Ball and Ian Holleran bring with their unique tribute to the Man in Black and his talented wife, June Carter Cash with their Johnny & June Tribute.
Richard Wolfenden-Brown, director of The Plough Arts Centre said of their recent performance: "Their world class musical skills, with beautifully melded voices and instruments, coupled with their vibrant and infectious stage presence made for a delightful night which was cheered to the rafters by a large and extremely appreciative audience."
Expect post-punk and indie pop/rock vibes from Captal. They’ve been busy writing and recording new music at an amazing recording studio, On-Track Audio in Barnstaple.
The band's new single, Sirens, is on all major streaming platforms.
Summer Sounds tickets can be purchased at www.theploughartscentre.org.uk or call the Box Office on 01805 624624. Box Office opens Tues – Sat 10am – 4pm.
