Super garden centre arrival delights children and dads alike

SHOPPERS at a Barnstaple garden centre got two “superheroes” for the price of one on Saturday morning.

Caped Crusader Batman ditched sidekick Robin in favour of Father Christmas – to the delight of scores of youngsters at Trelawney Garden Centre at Ashford, near Barnstaple.

The duo made a lively arrival in the Batmobile, a replica of the car made famous in the Sixties television series starring Adam West as Batman.

Trelawney general manager Caroline Howell-Williams said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day. The garden centre was packed and there was a really festive mood.

“Many children came in fancy dress and that really added to the wonderful atmosphere.

“The Batmobile was something completely different and I think the dads particularly enjoyed seeing it.”

Father Christmas will be in his grotto at Trelawney every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm up to the week beginning Monday, December 19, when the grotto will be open every day.
