EIGHT special North Devon children have just spent two weeks on a holiday of a lifetime to Florida, thanks to the Children's Holiday Foundation North Devon. All have suffered with serious illness or major disability and they have all benefited enormously from the experience.During the two weeks they visited eight of the specialty theme parks, including a day at Discovery Cove, where they had an opportunity to interact and swim with the dolphins. For many of them this was definitely the highlight of the holiday. The children were accompanied by six volunteer helpers and the group leader and charity founder Dr Robin Buckland of Northam."The children seemed to grow in confidence during the two weeks and, hopefully, the experience will boost their health and happiness in the future," said Dr Buckland. "We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated to the charity. It is their generosity that makes these holidays possible."The charity has now taken 116 children on 14 holidays since 1993 and is already planning the next holiday for eight more North Devon children in May 2009.
