It was a historic day in Bideford as MV Balmoral visited the town for the first time in 10 years.

The vessel arrived on August 16 with 224 passengers where she was greeted by the town crier and dignitaries including mayor David Howell.

Harbour master Roger Hoad said: “Passengers had a short stroll in Bideford and the ship gained a handful of passengers to make the transit to Ilfracombe, whilst a few stayed in Bideford.

“All in all it was a very successful visit and was watched by a good number of locals and visitors alike.”

The winners of our Balmoral competition were Cecil Watkins from Bideford and Lorraine Brook from Barnstaple.
