A SERIES of special openings and tours of some of Barnstaple's most historic buildings will take place this September. The four-day Heritage Open Day event follows a successful similar event last year, and will feature access to buildings including the Heritage Centre, St Anne's Chapel and the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon.Other activities planned include a talk by the conservation officer on Barnstaple's historic buildings, and a treasure hunt, where people will have to piece together letters, placed in buildings around the town, to spell a related word. The event from September 11-14 will be an extra special occasion for the Heritage Centre, which will be celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Community heritage officer, Alison Mills, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for members of the public to discover Barnstaple's history- free of charge." If you wish to make your historic building available to members of the public on this day, please contact Alison Mills at the Museum on (01271) 346747.
