Cannon firing marked the start of Bideford Heritage Week last weekend - with Heritage Day this Saturday.

Bideford Heritage Day takes place this weekend, with plenty of free family activities.

Events officially kicked off on Saturday as mayor Phil Pester paraded through the town, and a cannon was fired from Bideford Quay.

Bideford 500’s historical extravaganza will be opened by the mayor with a parade through the town to Victoria Park at 10.15am.

The day will include free events and displays including jousting, medieval combat, falconry, theatrical displays and much more.
