MEDIEVAL and Tudor life was up close and hands on in Barnstaple's at the weekend.Saturday was the second of the town's Heritage Days, as visitors had the chance to try on medieval arms and armour, learn about crime and punishment and the work of a Tudor apothecary.The Barnstaple Heritage Centre event, saw Arriere-Ban Historic Enterprises set up armoury and apothecary shop at the Strand mosaic, while the centre itself offered entry for just £1.There was the chance to watch the intricate skill of Victorian lace making and sample traditional Barnstaple Fairings biscuits.The talented Recyc youth junk band also performed twice during the day with their new composition, River Taw from Moor to Shore.
