People in North Devon are being invited to give their views and ideas on how best to protect the environment at an exciting and educational event taking place in Barnstaple Pannier Market on Monday, February 18It's in our Hands is a fun day of free interactive events and activities, hosted by North Devon Council, to highlight environmental issues and show how everyone can play a part in preventing climate change.Some 50 local businesses, organisations and community groups are taking part so there will be something to interest the whole family, ranging from informative exhibitions on energy efficiency to face painting, junk band performances to local organic food stalls.The event is being supported by North Devon's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the first area in the UK to receive such international recognition for its unique environment. People can also find out more about its important work at the event.Cllr Faye Webber, Lead Member for the Environment says: "It is really important that everyone plays their part in helping to prevent climate change. "This exciting event has lots of interactive fun activities and demonstrations to show how we can all live in a sustainable way. It is also a chance for people to give us their views on how we can all reduce our impact on the environment. I would like to encourage everyone to come along and take part.
