A community group that supplies unique courses and support for people who struggle with food, their size and what not to eat next, have their first anniversary next month. The Breaking Free from Stuffing and Starving courses are educational support groups run by the North Devon Emotional Eating Group to provide help for people experiencing emotional eating issues. These issues can lead to people struggling with being either over or under weight. Or they can lead to obsessive or binge eating. The groups help people to start the process of breaking free from their struggle with food. They support people to explore why they eat the way they do and to develop day-to-day strategies to manage this. Ann Mold, course facilitator, said: "The courses recognise the potential for emotional relationships with food and eating, in which weight becomes a symptom of the distress that people are feeling: distress that is not necessarily reached or helped by using a weight control approach." The next Breaking Free from Stuffing and Starving group will be starting at the in Barnstaple at the end this month.
