HOLD on to your hoki-kokee's everyone - the 5x30 Devonwide Project was launched this week! The project is a 'physical activity for health' partnership project, funded and supported by the Big Lottery Fund, Sport England and district councils, including Torridge and North Devon. It is called 5x30 because for long term health and wellbeing people should endeavour to participate in 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five times a week. To kick it off locally, Community Activators Jessica Christie (Torridge) and Danny Hughes (North Devon) have organised a week of free events throughout region and culminating in an activity fun day at the Pollyfield Centre in Bideford on Saturday (March 7). The day is being supported by Asda, who will be providing healthy food and drinks free of charge.Events started on Monday with Burlesque Chair Aerobics at the Inn on the Square, Barnstaple, and continue with other events such as a Baby & Me Aerobics session, Chair hiphop, a Samba band dance workshop and Ultimate Frisbee! For more information contact Jessie Christie, Torridge Community Activator.
