YOUNG people are being invited to have their say on the future of Devons youth services. Devon County Council currently employs 230 staff in more than 80 youth centres but is reviewing the future of the £3.7 million service. Councillor William Mumford, cabinet member for childrens services, said no decisions had been made but public feedback would help shape any proposals. The council will present initial findings at a series of events, including one at Bideford Youth Centre on Thursday, November 7 from 7-9pm. Cllr Mumford said: It is very clear that the service needs to change if we are to continue to meet our statutory duties and serve our communities well with the resources available. We need to respond quickly to the recent Ofsted inspection of Devons Childrens Services which highlighted the need to strengthen our early help and preventative services targeting our most vulnerable young people and youth work could have a key role in this. I will be looking carefully at everything we have heard before any detailed proposals are put forwards.
