The Happy Cafe is closing down after eight years in Westward Ho!

The cafe, run by the charity Seize The Moment, will be holding a closing party on Friday, September 1.

It has sat in Golf Links Road since opening in 2008.

Jane Elliott, of Seize The Moment, said: "We will not be renewing our lease and will be leaving the building in September.

"We are holding a party as we want to thank the community of Westward Ho! and all our volunteers for the support they have given us since 2008 when we moved into the old tennis pavilion.

"We have enjoyed our years working in Westward Ho! to provide training for new chefs and to cook affordable local food for the public."

Jane said any future projects were still being decided on by the charity.

She added: "We are however still going to be delivering free workshops and events in Northam working with The Friends of Northam Library and running crafts sessions in the Square.

"Our youth heritage project will continue and will be based in Northam.

"We have also entered into discussions with the Westward Ho! Community Association to deliver some of our existing projects at Kingsley Hall."

Jane said there should be more information on the charity's future activities next month.
