NEARLY 450 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section and adult volunteers from Taw and Torridge celebrated the centenary of the Guiding movement at The Milky Way Adventure Park, near Clovelly, yesterday (Sunday).

Balloons were launched, a time capsule containing memorabilia was planted near the Bird of Prey Centre and Lady Clinton, herself a Girl Guide in her youth, made a speech.

Event organiser Jan Crisp said: "This was one of the first events for the Taw and Torridge Division for 10 years where all Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Senior Section and Trefoil Guild got together.

"It was great to see all the girls get together and realise what we are part of is a much bigger organisation.
