Green gold for Exmoor House

EXMOOR House, a guest house and restaurant at Wheddon Cross, is the first accommodation provider on Exmoor to achieve a gold award from Green Tourism.

Among other things, the award recognises energy and water efficiency, use of local produce, environmentally-friendly cleaning products, waste minimisation, working with the community, encouraging car-free activities and green promotion of the business.

Co-owner Rosi Davis said: “We’ve always done our best to run Exmoor House in such a way that we minimise our effect on the environment. To me, as well as being something I really believe in, this is just plain old common sense. At the risk of sounding a bit jargony, the Green Tourism accreditation process is a very good way for businesses to benchmark themselves against a comprehensive set of standards.”
