Community turn out ion force to help clear the school garden

Dozens of helpers descended on Our Lady's Catholic Primary School in Barnstaple on Saturday to help out at a 'Groundforce Day'.

They turned out to help staff and pupils clear out the school's allotment and outside learning areas.

There was help from parents, while Tesco Extra staff brought tools and helped, as did members of St Mary's Catholic Church and Commando Logistics Regiment at RMB Chivenor.

Organiser Geraldine Herrage said there had been a great show of support and the aim was to get the allotments ready to help the children learn and to grow food to be used in the school kitchens.
