RURAL crafts, displays and guided walks will all feature at the Wistlandpound Open Day near Blackmoor Gate this bank holiday Monday (August 25.)The reservoir site, lakeside walks and activities is at Calvert Trust Exmoor and is jointly managed between the trust, South West Lakes Trust and the Forestry Commission in a partnership known as Discover Wistlandpound.It begins at 11am and will be held in and around Wistlandpound's new accessible Heritage Centre.There will be plenty to see and do, with rural craft demonstrations, children's craft activities, displays by local organisations and the All-ability Activity Trail around the lake plus regular guided walks around the new, wheelchair- and pushchair-friendly paths.To celebrate the new Activity Trail Quiz, which is being launched at the Open Day, correct entries will be drawn at the end of the day and the lucky winner will receive a pair of binoculars worth over £100 to enhance their enjoyment of future nature walks in the stunning lakeside surroundings at Wistlandpound."We're looking forward to a record number of visitors to the Open Day as more people find out about us and the new, accessible facilities we have to offer," said manager Thomas Haynes."With parking and entry just £2, it'll be a great value day out for all the family, whether they're interested in walking, the activities, or visiting the tea shop."For further information visit www.discoverwistlandpound.org.uk/whatson or telephone (01598) 763719.
