A PROJECT to bring together graduates and businesses in Torridge for mutual benefit wants more people to get involved. The Graduate Skills for Torridge Project is available to all small and medium businesses in the Torridge area which would like a skilled person with up-to-date knowledge and a fresh perspective. Graduates get the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and to use the skills and knowledge they have acquired, while receiving a wage.Cathy Newman, who runs the project, said: "The flexibility of the project enables businesses to benefit in a number of ways. The duration of the placement is based on the needs of the business and having a graduate on board for a while should lead to greater efficiency and better profitability and can be a cost-effective method of recruitment."The project is funded by Devon Renaissance, the rural regeneration partnership organisation for the county, and by the Learning and Skills Council. It runs until March 2009, with placements available for 20 graduates. For more information contact Cathy Newman on 07970 795808.
