Police want to hear from a woman who helped a teenage girl after an alleged attack near Bear Street Cemetery

Witnesses are sought after a teenage girl was pushed to the ground and kicked in the head during a vicious assault near Bear Street Cemetery in Barnstaple.

Police said the attack happened on Wednesday, July 1 between 4.30-5.30pm and the suspects are two teenaged girls, believed to be part of a group of five.

Officers would like to speak to a kindly woman, possibly in her 50s, who drove past and then returned on foot to help the girl.

The lady then walked the girl to her home. Police believe she was a witness to the events and hope she will come forward to speak to them.
