Newport Darby and Joan Club celebrated its golden anniversary in style with a group get-together at the Imperial Hotel in Barnstaple.Of its 43 members, 39 ventured out to enjoy a three course meal to mark the club's 50 years.The club run by Enid Drake and Maureen Jewell was established in 1958 and organises afternoon meetings every Wednesday. The members, which include four women over the age of 90 are treated to bus trips, Christmas shopping outings and will soon be participating in 'Wimbledon' strawberries and cream. Enid said: "We all get together for a nice afternoon cup of tea and a good chat.
