Community event at the Lantern Centre on Saturday, February 27

A community Green and Growing event is being hosted by Greener llfracombe at the Lantern Centre, in the Great Hall, on Saturday, February 27 between 10am and 1pm.

There will be stalls showcasing local groups involved in conservation, growing food, and enhancing green spaces in and around Ilfracombe.

There will be gardening-related activities for children and keen gardeners are welcome to the seed swap so bring left-over packets of seeds, seeds collected from your own plants or surplus seedlings and take away something new to try.

Organiser Netti Pearson said: “It’s amazing how many local volunteer groups care about Ilfracombe’s green spaces: Laston Green Community Allotments ; Cow Green Community Garden, a hidden gem at the heart of Ilfracombe High Street; Cairn Conservation Carers; Ilfracombe in Bloom; Community Resources; ITC’s Green Team as well as a proposed ‘gardening gym’ and local food producers.

“If you are interested in finding out more or even joining in then come and sign up and you too can have fun, fitness and food whilst helping to improve the town’s environment: what’s not to like? Of course you could just come for the sale of tea and home-made cakes.”
