THE people of Ilfracombe have been invited to quiz their local councillors, ask questions or spark debate on the new town council new website. As well as a source of information, www.theilfracombecentre.co.uk is an opportunity for councillors to listen and respond to comments from residents on all aspects of life in the town.A major feature of the website is the community forum and it is hoped this will play an important part in the council's aim to improve communications.Anyone can read topics on the forum by visiting www.theilfracombecentre.co.uk/forum. If they want to start a new topic or post a message on an existing one, they will need to register first. Registering is free and takes a couple of minutes."We realise that not everybody has the time to attend meetings or is comfortable in a town council setting - but that shouldn't mean they don't have a voice," said Councillor Paul Crabb, who has been instrumental in setting up the new website."As councillors, we're here to champion the causes and listen to the concerns of residents - the forum aims to make it easier and maybe even more enjoyable, to do this."An open exchange of ideas and debate is encouraged, as long as postings are not offensive or in bad taste.Councillor contact details are also listed on the site, along with a calendar of meeting dates, councillor surgeries and services available from The Ilfracombe Centre.
