Gambia bound

WHEN the Barnstaple Link Rotary Club was offered a donation of children’s books, they didn’t realise just how many were involved until their member Chris Haywood went to collect them.

Box upon box of books were loaded into his vehicle and later took over his house.

The club was then faced with the task of what to do with them as they could not be sold.

To the rescue has come Julie Hunt from Barnstaple who this week has taken a selection of books with her to the new Seedlings school in The Gambia that has just opened,

“It is wonderful that the books are going to a good home but I am just happy to be able to get to bed without enduring an obstacle course to get to the door”, said a relieved Chris.
