Further erosion of civil liberties

Sir - I have just read the latest bit of stupidity to come from Government. Apparently it proposes to reduce the national speed limit to 50mph and to reinforce it by a massive increase in cameras to monitor our speed. The Government tries to justify this by saying that it would cut emissions by using less fuel and reduce road deaths by up to 6 per cent. What a load of stupidity! Firstly we would not save fuel because our journeys would take longer and we would use lower gears and hence more fuel. Secondly we would all be so frustrated that it could cause more accidents, not fewer. To have any effect on death rate speeds would have to be cut to 20mph. This is a further erosion of our civil liberties with all these cameras taking pictures of our every move. Isn't it time we all said NO MORE and voted sensibly in our elections.
